Discernment

The heresy hunters are out in force, trying to do all they can to discredit what God is doing in Lakeland, Morningstar and other places.  To be sure, there is fodder for these folks, but as th old saying goes, we need to keep “the main thing the main thing”.  In 1st John 4:1-3, John gives a clear way to test spirits and see of they are of God or not.  I doubt that Rick Joyner, Todd Bentley, or Bob Jones would ever deny that Jesus has come in the flesh.  I’m not personally aware of them ever saying any such thing.  That is the ”litmus test” of discernment when it comes to moves of God like this.  We need, according to these verses, to also check the fruit of what is happening in people’s live during moves like this.  Are folks getting saved, are they being healed, and are at least some of these healings being medically verified?  Are people’s passion for Jesus and His coming Kingdom being renewed and refreshed?  Most of all, is there real Christ like character coming forth from folks? If the answers to most of these questions are yes, then it’s time for us to lay down our prejudices and religous, judgemental, pharisaical spirits and say yes, Lord, Your ways are higher than my ways.  If I don’t like the package it is coming in, still, I must get over it and say yes to biblically based discernment.  Maybe you don’t like Todd’s tatoos, or the fact that he was a biker and drug dealer.  Maybe you don’t like his ministry style.  Apparently God isn’t offended with or put off by these things.  If God isn’t bothered, then we need to get over it as well.  Remember, the Pharisees were among those who “knew the Word”, or better yet, “knew the truth”  better than anyone of their day, yet they found fault with Jesus and “disqualified” Him.  I encourage you, use a real biblical basis for your discernment of these things, and humble yourself before the Holy Spirit and God’s higher ways.  The days are coming when we will need this discerment, and to miss it will be life or death.

  1. You’ve seriously got to be kidding. Todd Bentley is so unscriptural, yet those of us who expose it are “heresy hunters”?

He couldn’t even give Nightline 1 confirmed healing!! And I’ll tell you it’s not his tattoos, or his pearcings (all of which he got AFTER he got saved), or the fact that he was a convicted child molester. No, it ’s not any of these things. It could be his kicking, hitting and all around violence in the name of Jesus. Or his unbiblical mystical experiences or his angelic apparitions. I suggest you take some time and read some of the things the “heresy hunters” are saying. Or better yet, read the bible.

I’d suggest you read my blog, but I doubt you’d do it. All I can say is wake up before it’s too late. 2 Thes. 9-11
9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness

  2. Kicking, hitting and all around violence. I’m not sure we are talking about the same guy here. I haven’t watched all of the meetings, but the many I’ve seen, he wasn’t doing any of that. It seems you may using a little “evangelastic” phrasing there. As to medically verified miracles, we have a significant one right here at IHOP-KC, Kelsey Hays. A majority of missionaries here at the base prayed for months for her, she and her family were given provision to go to Lakeland and and she was healed the first night she was there. incidentally, she had what you would probably call an “unbiblical, mystical experience” the month before when she was in the hospital. The fulfifllment of that experience came in Lakeland. She is a walking, healthy, awesome testimony of God’s desire and ability to heal.
It is precisely because of the”lawless one” that I post these things. If you can’t discern what is God now, what will you do when the real deceiver comes along. I don’t want you to be one of those who falls away from your salvation, as described in II Thess. 2 because of your lack of discernment. I mean that. At that point, it will be too late. One last thing – I’ve been “reading” the Bible for over 29 years. I will be praying Eph. 1:16-18a for you.

  3. What a shame. I am praying for you.

  4. I don’t understand how either of you can call these experiences unbiblical, when they are CLEARLY in the bible. As someone that is 33 and been reading the bible for over 20 years I an tell you that my experience and what I read does not line up with either one of your blogs. And I have taken the time to read both.

I don’t even know why I am wasting my time responding neither you will read this.
